A Facebook Group for Pastor’s Wives {let’s connect!}

October was all about you, pastor’s wives.

Now it’s November, and we’re all starting to think about holiday recipes, frugal Christmas gifts, and how we’re going to survive the crazy schedules and stay well during the cold and flu season.

And so we move on.

Past the 31 Days of Grace, the pastor’s appreciation dinners, the Hallmark sentiments.

But you’re still there. 

In the parsonage. Or wherever you live.

Still dealing with Sundays and juggling ministry and motherhood.

Still trying to be that Super Mom who gets it all done.

Still trying to get enough sleep, pinch enough pennies, support your stretched-too-thin-man…

And if you’re like me, you traipse across sticky floors every night to kiss sticky faces before you fall into bed bone-weary… and go to sleep asking the Lord to help you do it all again tomorrow.

Yes, you’re still there. 

And I’m still here.

And I had this crazy idea…

Well, I’ve had a ton of crazy ideas, but I eventually decided that maybe this one wasn’t too crazy.

I know a lot of pastor’s wives are lonely, and tucked into out-of-the-way corners of the world (I have totally been there!)  Some of you may go weeks or months (or longer) between visits with other like-minded women.

My crazy idea was to create a super cozy and “safe” place for pastor’s wives to connect in an online community.  This “place”  has been developing in my mind for about a year now, and I finally asked my husband about it.

He said go for it.

I mentioned my idea to a few other pastor’s wives… and they said go for it.

So I did. 

It’s not a real-life-get-together… but it’s sort of the next best thing…

It’s a private Facebook group, where you’re invited to join the pastor’s wives at Kristy’s Cottage and help yourself to a cup of hot tea and a generous dose of grace and friendship.

A little confession about social media:

I’m a blogger, and I bounce around on Facebook throughout the week… and a lot of times I’m not very encouraged by what I read. Why?

Well, I don’t like gossiping, complaining, or pushy-salesy-stuff.

I don’t like hearing about a bunch of people’s no-good day.

I don’t like feeling like I’m getting talked into something, or fed a pretty line so I’ll click a link and become some blogger’s “traffic”.

And. I. Don’t. Like. Selfies.

No, I don’t like any of that.

I don’t expect that you do either, so don’t count on finding any of it over at my Facebook group for pastor’s wives .

I want you to feel at home… encouraged… and understood…

I want you to feel like you’re sitting at a kitchen table with a friend, who happens to be a pastor’s wife too.

I want you to feel like Facebook can be a cheerful, uplifting place to check into every once-in-a-while…
