Hi there, and happy June!
We are embracing this early-summer season with lots of plans, goals, projects… and, thankfully, sunshine!
Normally, rainy days are a premium here in Texas but, as you might have heard or seen in the news, we have weathered a pretty turbulent spring this year. Our area received a record sixteen inches of rain in the moth of May!
Despite the flooding and storms over the past two months, our family has stayed safe and dry… and we are definitely looking ahead to the bright, warm days of summer!
High Tide, by Sally Swatland
Here’s a peek at what’s going on in my world right now… there’s something special for you pastor’s wives at the end of this post, so I hope you’ll keep reading!
Homeschooling
Yep, that’s right. Our year-round homeschooling is kicking back into gear; tomorrow is our first day back-to-school!
Do I feel like starting back to school just yet? Well, no. But I have a feeling we’ll get into the swing of things pretty soon, and I’m very happy about our curriculum this year.
This is our third year with My Father’s World, and I’ll be sharing more about it throughout the month of June. Thanks so much for sticking with me during our homeschool theme here at the blog… I hope you find the reviews and articles helpful in the upcoming weeks.
If you’re a My Father’s World mama, be sure to join our MFW Blogroll for this year!
Homeschooling moms, I’d love to have you join my Facebook group just for home educators, as well.
I’m Thriving!
Have you heard of the nutritional system by Level… the Thrive experience?
I’ve been a tad skeptical about giving these supplements a try, but Jeremy and I finally jumped in and are seeing how the vitamins, protein shakes, and patch work for us.
My friends and family have seen very good improvement with digestive issues, immune system problems, energy levels and seasonal allergies with Thrive, so I’m pretty optimistic.
So far I’m happy with the results from my own experience… if I love it, I’ll tell you more about it, or you can check it out for yourself here!
A Weekly Column Just for Pastor’s Wives
And on the blogging front:
When I tentatively wrote 10 Things Every Young Pastor’s Wife Should Know, and the accompanying mini series, about two years ago, I had no idea I would strike such a chord with my fellow preacher’s wives.
Quite by accident (or maybe it was the leading of the Holy Spirit), I literally stumbled into a blog niche I wasn’t even looking for. Since then, I’ve connected with over 160 ministry wives via my Facebook group (these are the sweetest ladies ever!).
The feelings of loneliness, isolation, discouragement in ministry and pressure in family life that so many preacher’s wives experience prompted me to do a little something more to offer encouragement and support.
It’s true: I’m only one mama. I’m young(ish). I have much to learn.
My limitations are so great that, quite honestly, sometimes I feel like sitting back and letting someone who is more skilled, experienced, and qualified, be the one who is brave enough to get up and “do something”.
But I don’t believe the Lord led me to these ladies by accident. I don’t think it was my idea at all to take a chance on a blog that was focused almost entirely on health and natural living, and write about ministry and being a pastor’s wife.
So, with the heartfelt prayer that the Lord will lead my thoughts and bless the ladies who read here, I am starting a weekly column just for wives in ministry.
This will be a column at the blog every week: Minister’s Wife Monday.
As the Lord enables, I’m going to simply share my heart and write to my fellow pastor’s wives (and other wives in ministry) on a weekly basis.
I plan to launch this feature at the blog next Monday, June 8, and if you are a woman married to a preacher, I certainly hope you will stay tuned!
Please feel free to subscribe to my weekly blog recap/newsletter, if you’d rather receive updates from this blog by email.
For today, I’d love to hear from you ministry wives… maybe you can leave a comment and simply introduce yourself, or tell me something you’d like to read about along the lines of a Minister’s Wife Monday column.
Since you’re here, you probably already know that I’m Kristy… a homeschooling mom of five and a Preacher’s Kid who grew up and married a pastor.
Now it’s your turn… will you introduce yourself, please?
